Tonight I give thanks for my son Michael. He had a milestone in his life this past week. For a decade he has wanted, studied, and prepared to become a firefighter. He recently, successfully passed a firefighting academy near San Diego. He then earned a volunteer position at the fire station in Shelter Valley, California. A few days ago he had his first experience in helping extinguish a wildland fire. I am proud of Micheal for his persistence with this important goal.
