This morning my heart was touched by the profound message of Elder Hales, an apostle of Jesus Christ. Why do those who are trying to do the right things sometimes face such difficult mortal trials? In a beautiful way he explains what it means to “Wait Upon the Lord”. More than just enduring, waiting upon the Lord means to hope, to anticipate, and to trust. I am grateful for this important message from an apostle. (Full message at: http://tinyurl.com/7xrdsep)
At least in Las Vegas, Spring has come. Blossoms are out and today I found this busy bee, darting about through the yard, doing its thing. Spring is hopeful and bright. It is the rebirth of the cycle of life. It is a perfect reminder of the real reason for celebrating Easter- rebirth made available through the Savior.
After several days in bed, it was refreshing to spend a few minutes walking aroung the backyard. The colors were vibrant, and the air was fresh. Simple pleasures for sure, but they were more fully appreciated after being couped up since mid-week.
Being ill this week helps me more fully appreciate the days when I have health and strength. Many times we don’t appreciate blessings in our lives until those blessings are taken away. Such contrast or opposition is an important element of this mortal life. It can help us have better perspective and more grateful hearts. What better way to be reminded of life’s oppositions than the bright light of the sun shinning through a stormy sky.
