Did I mention that I love calla lillies? This one from a new angle taken at night. I love the detail in the flower wall. It is the perfect prelude to the Easter season.
This idea intrigues me, that all things bear record of God. Both temporal and spiritual things, all of them, witness of Him. My part is to learn to see and appreciate these evidences that surround me each day.
The scripture below is from the sixth chapter of Moses.
I am learing to live in the moment, enjoying the blessing of happy and tender moments that are all around us. I saw this video on-line yesterday and it really touched me. I loved seeing this new bride and her father break tradition and do something that was fun for them and fun for the guests. They truly enjoyed the moment, and preserved a great memory for all at the reception. I actually got teary eyed on this one, as I appreciated the power of enjoying the current moment.
Photographers love the golden light that occurs just after sunrise and just before sunset. At these times, the rays from the sun pass tangentially through a greater distance of the atmosphere than they do at high noon. This atmospheric influence gives the light a more golden color- a very pleasing light for landscapes and portraits. When I am able to appreciate this beautiful light, I am brightened myself.
For years I have wanted to visit B & H Photo in New York City. It is run by a group of Orthodox Jews who honor their Sabbath day. They close down in the afternoon on Friday before sunset and they open again on Sunday. You can’t even order from their website on the weekend until late Saturday evening. I have a great respect for these owners that they would be true to their convictions, closing down their entire operation in an extremely competitive business world. So in the past, when I have visited New York, my only option for visiting B & H has been Saturday. That is until my recent visit when I was able to make it to 420 9th Avenue on a Friday morning. What a great visit. I could have stayed even longer, looking and discussing and learning. Their amazing super store in Manhattan is filled with exciting photo and other related gear. And the staff is second to none, knowledgeable and helpful. They have an in-house product delivery system that runs overhead. Purchased items are put in the green bins and these are transported on tracks down to the checkout area. If you love photography, make the B & H pilgrimage sometime. But be careful, it could be a costly visit.
