I am grateful we could gather as a family in Las Vegas for the Christmas holiday. When the boys were younger, we would launch Estes rockets. As a point of nostalgia, Richard gave me a set of Estes rockets for Christmas. We had a blast today firing off the rockets at the park.
Today, the birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated all over the world. In completely inadequate words, I give thanks for the Savior. He gives meaning and purpose to life and to this world’s tragedies. He gives me hope and He gives me peace.
Through the words of Isaiah, we learn of the purpose of Christ in our lives. We are told in chapter 61 that the Savior of the world will preach good tidings unto the meek, bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim iliberty to the captives, open the prison to them that are bound, comfort all that mourn, give beauty for ashes, give oil of joy for mourning, and give the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Indeed He does. I give thanks.
I am most grateful for the Spirit of Christmas. It is a magical time of year during which the Spirit of the Lord is disseminated throughout the world in greater abundance. This Spirit has influenced my life in a powerful way. I feel very blessed this time of year.
Lately, we have had the opportunity to look through some of our old photos. It is wonderful to have these “crutches” to help us remember moments and feelings and people. Below is a fun memory that I ran across tonight. We were on a date at the park, well before we were married. I am thankful to have this photo to rekindle a pleasant memory with Michelle.
Cameos don’t normally do much for me. But this one seemed exceptionally beautiful. The photo does not do full justice in revealing the detail of this fine piece of jewelry. At this stage of life, I appreciate more fully the artisans that create such masterpieces.
