I am grateful for my sons, and tonight I give thanks specifically for James’ sense of humor. The other day he said to me: “Dad, I see on my Facebook account that you have been my friend for 3 years. What about the other 17 years of my life?” Gotta love it!
The setting is very nice. The nativity is depicted at the base of the Salt Lake Temple with the water giving a beautiful reflection of the House of the Lord.
I love the lights of Christmas displayed each year at Temple Square in Salt Lake City. It is a beautiful calling card for many of us who happen to be in the area during the holidays.
Last weekend, we made our largest family trek to date to the “Training Table”. It is a long-time Baker Family favorite destination for lunch or dinner. I can’t say that the food in general is necessarily that special, although the cheese fries are a favorite. But you get to order from your own “hot line” phone by your table which then rings when your order is ready for pick up. But most importantly, the “Training Table” is a family tradition that brings a smile to all, young and old. I am grateful we could again make the pilgrimage.
The passage from December 31st to January 1st is certainly artificial. Yet there is something about the human spirit that enjoys renewal and a fresh start. We can not predict what 2013 will bring but certainly there will be many surprises. I am grateful to be part of the playing out of the future as we enter the new year.
