Today, the birth of Jesus Christ is celebrated all over the world. In completely inadequate words, I give thanks for the Savior. He gives meaning and purpose to life and to this world’s tragedies. He gives me hope and He gives me peace.

Through the words of Isaiah, we learn of the purpose of Christ in our lives. We are told in chapter 61 that the Savior of the world will preach good tidings unto the meek, bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim iliberty to the captives, open the prison to them that are bound, comfort all that mourn, give beauty for ashes, give oil of joy for mourning, and give the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Indeed He does. I give thanks.
